ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s basketball team raced out to an early lead but hot shooting from long range brought the home team all the way back as the University of St. Thomas claimed a 99-50 victory at Schoenecker Arena.

Carleton (2-5, 1-3 MIAC) jumped out to a 10-1 lead and still held a 19-16 advantage with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Suddenly, St. Thomas (6-1, 3-0 MIAC) got hot from beyond the arc and outscored the visitors 35-9 over the remainder of the period.

St. Thomas made a season-best 16 three-point attempts on the day and shot 57 percent overall from the field, including a 67-percent clip in the first half.

Carleton shot 35 percent overall and went 5-of-21 (24 percent) beyond the arc. Henry Bensen (Jr./Roseville, Minn./Roseville) scored a season-best 11 points to lead the Knights, matching highest scoring output since the 2017-18 season opener at Colorado College. He also added four assists and three rebounds.

The Knights will step outside of conference play and visit UW-Eau Claire for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Monday, Dec. 12. Links to live video and stats will be available via Knights Online.
