ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Kent Hanson (Jr./St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) notched his ninth career double-double, accounting for 26 points and 11 rebounds, but the Carleton College men’s basketball team came up just short in a 73-72 result at Bethel University. The back-and-forth contest featured 11 lead changes over the final 6:05 of the contest.

Carleton (3-6, 1-3 MIAC) enjoyed a 40-28 advantage in points in the paint, but there was a large discrepancy at the charity stripe, where the Knights went 6-for-6 while Bethel (4-4, 2-2 MIAC) converted 18-of its-25 attempts.

Matthew Stritzel (So./Chicago, Ill./Niles Notre Dame) added 17 points to the Knights’ scoring total thanks to a 5-of-8 showing from beyond the arc to match his career high. Quinn Johnson (Sr./Roseville, Minn./Roseville) chipped in nine points, while Henry Bensen (Jr./Roseville, Minn./Roseville) and Carlston McKenzie (Fy./Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) accounted for seven points apiece.

Bethel had four players finish in double figures and was led by Granger Kingland, who tallied 20 points and six rebounds. Derek Magnuson contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Jack Jenson and Tyler Barker scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Knights will step away from competition until after the holidays and return to action when they host Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m. Knights Online will provide live video and live stats.
