NEW ORLEANS — The Carleton College men’s and women’s cross country teams are both off to a hot start this season and are climbing in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings.

The women’s team is coming off of an exciting weekend where they placed second of 23 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational, where they bested Division II program University of Minnesota-Duluth and the host No. 19 Oles. That performance allowed the Knights to jump from 23rd to 15th in the nation.

The men’s team was previously ranked 35th in the country but after their own impressive fourth-place finish at the loaded St. Olaf Invitational, The Knights have been bumped up to 27th in Division III.

Both Carleton squads are off this weekend but will be back in action to host their first home meet of 2017 with the Running of the Cows on Saturday, Sept. 30.
