Dodge, Knights open season with wins at Falcon Invite

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Carleton College men’s cross country made its season debut at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational and used a 1-2-3 finish from Tris Dodge (Sr./Oakland, Calif./College Prep), Matt Wilkinson (So./Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka), and Stephen Lavey (Fy./Cedar Grove, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) to cruise to the team victory.

Dodge pulled away and posted a winning time of 26:30.1, good for a 26-second margin of victory. Wilkinson edged Lavey at the line as the duo notched times of 26:56.5 and 26:57.4 for the eight-kilometer course.

Adam Nakasaka (Fy./Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was the third Carleton underclassman to finish in the top five, clocking a time of 27:18.2 to capture fifth place. Ben Santos (Fy./Boulder, Colo./Boulder) completed the Knights’ scoring total by placing 10th at 28:23.7.

Bridger Rives (Fy./Sklatook, Okla./Bishop Kelley), Alex Schneider (Sr./Bellingham, Wash./Sehome), and Jesse Shufro-Zletz (Fy./Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) also posted top-20 results at the meet.

Carleton is slated to compete next on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Augsburg Invitational in Bloomington, Minn.
