Season Ends with 12th-Place Finish at Regionals

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The season came to a close on Saturday for the Carleton College men’s cross country team as the Knights finished 12th out of 27 teams competing at the NCAA Central Region Championships. Marcus Huderle (Jr./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) led the Knights, placing 46th individually with a time of 26:48.4.

Bobby Davis (Sr./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and Guthrie Cunningham (Jr./Finland, Minn./Duluth East) finished next, taking 53rd and 55th places with times of 26:57.2 and 26:58.4, respectively. Jacob Hoerger (Jr./Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) and Joe Haase (Fy./Madison, Wis./Madison West) rounded out the scoring, taking 77th and 86th places in the 185-runner field as they crossed the line at 27:26.6 and 27:35.1.

Aaron Hirsh (Sr./Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) and Noah Laack-Veeder (So./Madison, Wis./LaFollette) were the final two of the Knights’ seven entries, posting times of 28:05.1 and 28:37.3.

Meet host No. 29 St. Olaf won the team competition with 70 points, narrowly edging No. 22 Central College which totaled 75 points. Luther College (144), Saint John’s (155), and Loras College (170) rounded out the top five.

Carleton saw only a 46.7-second difference between its first and last runners, the third-closest spread in the field.
