NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s golf team participated in a triangular match between the Knights, nearby St. Olaf College, and Macalester College. The contest was held at the Knights’ home course, Willingers Golf Club, but Carleton struggled and fired a 332, finishing five shots behind Oles who won the event with a 327. Macalester finished a distant third.

On a day when no player in the field broke 80, the Knights were led by seniors Sam Reategui (Highland Park, Ill/North Shore) and David Perl (Glencoe, Ill/New Trier), who finished with scores of 81 and 82, respectively. Sophomore Gabe Nass (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) notched an eagle on the second hole, leading him to card a career-low 83. Avery Tribus (Sr./ Madison, Wis./ Edgewood) rounded out the scoring for the Knights, finishing the day with an 86.

“The course played extremely tough today, and unfortunately we made too many mistakes as a team,” commented Reategui after the round.

The Knights will look to sharpen their games this week before hitting the course again on Sept. 22-24 at the Twin Cities Classic.
