Ham Lake, Minn. -- The Knights faced howling winds and struggled around the greens at Majestic Oaks Golf Course. Aaron Buckley (Jr./San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) led the Knights over the weekend with a two-day score of 162. The Knights finished with a team score of 664 and finished 13th.
On the first day of action, the entire field had difficulty with the strong winds that blew throughout the round. Only six of the sixteen teams were able to shoot less than 320. The Knights scores were all close to each other. Buckley and first-year Ned Rohrbach (Fy./Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) led the Knights with a pair of 83s. Brian Chesley (Sr./Mankato, Minn./West) shot an 85 and Jorde Ranum (So./Spring Lake Park, Minn.) rounded out the Knights scoring with a 86.
Day Two of the Invitational saw the winds drop and the scoring as well. The sixteen teams saw an average improvement of ten strokes on Sunday. The Knights hit the average exactly moving from 337 to 327. Four of the five Knights saw their scores improve. Buckley topped the Knights scoring with a 79 and Ranum improved to 81.
The Knights score on Sunday could have been much lower, but the team struggled around the greens. Three-putts were a common sight as the Knights.
Carleton travels to Sartell and Sauk Centre, Minn. for the St. John's Invitational on Sept. 15-26.
