Tough Going for Men’s Golf at Twin Cities Classic

LE SUEUR, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s golf team completed play at the Twin Cities Classic on Monday, shooting a final-round team score of 330. The tournament was played on three different courses over three days, featuring some of the top teams in the Midwest region. Despite beating four other team scores in the final round, the Knights were unable to improve their second-round position and finished 18th in the field of 19 teams.

Sophomore Ned Rohrbach (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) led all Knight golfers and finished in a tie for 31st overall with a 17-over par 233 (74-82-77).

Jeff Berg (Sr./Wood Dale, Ill./Wheaton Academy) was next with a combined score of 248 (83-80-85). Also contributing for Carleton was Jorde Ranum (Jr./Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) with a three-round total of 253 (84-84-85).

Aaron Buckley (Sr./San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) added a 254 total (83-88-83), and Brian Herlihy (So./Danbury, Conn./Immaculate High School) rounded out the squad with a 270 total (93-87-90).

This was the first time the Knights participated in a three-rounds competition at the Twin Cities Classic since 2006.

Carleton looks to get back on track next weekend when it heads to Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. to compete in the MIAC Championships from Oct. 5-7.
