ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Carleton College men’s soccer team dropped an away match to MIAC rival University of St. Thomas, falling 2-0 to the No. 7-ranked Tommies.

The Knights (6-6-0, 1-4-0 MIAC) held a slight edge in shots, 5-3, during the first half and registered the only shot on target by either side in the period.

The momentum shifted shortly after intermission, when the Tommies (11-1, 6-0 MIAC) claimed the 1-0 lead only 32 second after intermission when Shae Bottum converted a penalty kick.

The hosts out-shot Carleton 5-3 over the second half, and Connor Young doubled the Tonnies’ lead in 72nd minute with an acrobatic finish off of Kevin Van Lieshout’s free kick into the box.

Carleton’s next game will be this Wednesday, when they host crosstown rivals St. Olaf College. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm., and Knights Online will feature live video and live stat coverage.
