ST. PAUL, Minn. – By winning the 200-yard butterfly, Stevie Fitch (So./Redmond, Wash./Nikola Tesla Stem School) turned in the top performance for the Carleton College men’s swimming and diving team during its dual meet at No. 16-ranked University of St. Thomas.

Fitch grabbed the lead immediately and won the 200 fly going away with a time of 2:02.59, good for a nearly six-second margin of victory.

Carleton also saw a trio of second-place swims. Jack Heinzel (So./Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) was runner up in 50-yard freestyle (22.24). Andrew Chang (So./Vancouver, Wash./Union) was second to the wall in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.99, and Allen Yuan (Fy./Cary, N.C./Raleigh Charter) earned silver with his performance in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:15.39.

The Tommies have won the last four MIAC team titles and looked like the conference favorites once again by claiming a 226-61 decision.

Prior to the meet, the Margate Memorial Trophy was presented by the St. Thomas swimming and diving teams. More info about the meet can be found here.
