MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College men’s swimming and diving team concluded the three-day Minnesota Invite meet with 14 Knights taking part in individual event finals. That was a healthy total considering there were four NCAA Division I programs in attendance: No. 21 University of Minnesota, University of Utah—which is receiving votes in the D-I national poll, San Jose State, and South Dakota State. The meet also included top club swimmers from around the area.

He was followed by Allen Yuan (Fy./Cary, N.C./Raleigh Charter), Sam Darwish (Jr./Akron, Ohio./University School), and Spencer Lekki (So./Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) as they finished 19th-22nd, respectively, after posting times of 17:43.66, 17:44.63, 18:22.46, and 18:43.98.

They placed 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 24th after posting time of 2:09.70, 2:10.65, 2:13.05, and 2:22.20, respectively.
Ryan Wetzel (Jr./Salem, Ore./West Salem), Jack Heinzel (So./Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central), Will Altaweel (So./Madison, Wis./Madison West), and Tristan Belzer (So./St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) each swam in the “C” final of the 200-yard breaststroke. They posted times of 2:15.15, 2:16.45, 2:30.71, and 2:34.67 in placing 18th through 21st, respectively.
The “C” final of the 200-yard butterfly included Stevie Fitch (So./Redmond, Wash./Nikola Tesla Stem School) and Andrew Chang (So./Vancouver, Wash./Union), who placed 21st and 22nd, respectively. They covered the distance in 2:05.80 and 2:06.24.
The Knights wrapped up the three-day meet with a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay where Carleton’s top entry of Heinzel, Wetzel, Fitch and Jack Dalluge (Jr./Waverly, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) clocked a time of 3:20.38.
Carleton will continue its winter break training with its annual training/competition trip. The Knights will head to Islamorada in the Florida Keys from Dec. 3-13.
