MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 38-ranked Carleton College men’s tennis extended its win streak to eight with an 8-1 result over University of St. Thomas on Sunday. William Walsh (Fy./San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights), Aaron Goodman (Sr./Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park), Jordon O'Kelly (Sr./Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), and Jonas Lindholm-Uzzi (Jr./Germantown, N.Y./Red Hook) each won matches in both singles and doubles.

The Knights (10-1, 3-0 MIAC) won all three doubles matches by identical 8-3 tallies. Upon moving to singles, Walsh, Goodman, and O’Kelly made quick work of their opponents. All three won in straight sets, dropping a combined total of only five games as Carleton clinched the team result.

Xander Roti (Fy./Locust Valley, N.Y./Friends Academy) and Lindholm-Uzzi won the other two singles matches for Carleton. The latter remained undefeated in 2019 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory, while Roti had to battle back in the second set to eventually secure a 6-3, 7-5 triumph.

“Xander had his hands full at No. 4 singles today,” noted Carleton head coach Stephan Zweifel, “but like a Minnesota senator needing to eat a salad without a fork, he is the king of improvisation.”

Carleton’s 10 wins pace all MIAC squads so far in 2019. With winter term finals approaching, the Knights will take a break from competition before heading to Hilton Head Island, S.C. for the annual Spring Break trip. The team has six matches scheduled for the final week of March before returning to Minnesota and the start of the outdoor season.
