    A decade of academic excellence for track and field teams

    For the 10th consecutive year, both the Carleton College men’s and women’s track and field teams earned the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team Award. The Knight men ranked seventh in NCAA Division III with a 3.50 cumulative team GPA while the women were 20th with a 3.58 figure. Carleton also saw a nine student-athletes pick up individual All-Academic Awards.

    Donson Cook-Gallardo awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

    Recent Carleton College graduate and three-time national runner up Donson Cook-Gallardo ’18 (Moscow, Idaho) received one of the NCAA’s top honors as he was awarded a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He is one of 58 scholarship winners nationwide to receive the $7,500 award, with 29 male and 29 female student-athletes from a spring sport each securing a grant for post-graduate studies.

    Knights earn 59 Academic All-Conference awards

    The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Winter/Spring 2018 Academic All-Conference honorees, with Carleton College student-athletes earning distinction 59 times. That figure is a 48 percent increase over the previous year. With 94 total Academic All-Conference awards during the 2017-18 academic year, Carleton student-athletes posted their second-highest overall figure since the program adopted new academic and athletic standards prior to the 2005-06 season.

    ‘C’ Club Hall of Fame to add five new members

    In conjunction with Carleton College’s Alumni Reunion Weekend activities, five new members are to be welcomed into the 'C' Club Hall of Fame: football player Mark Williams ’73, three-sport star Madeleine McAfee ’78, track and field All-American Jeff Brown ’88, Olympian Philip Dunn ’93, and former men’s tennis coach Bob Bonner.

    Mathison, Cook-Gallardo, and Dodge voted to Academic All-District Teams

    Carleton College track and field stars Meg Mathison ’20, Donson Cook-Gallardo ’18, and Tris Dodge ’19 (Oakland, Calif./College Prep) were recognized for their excellence in the classroom. The trio was selected to Academic All-District Track and Field/Cross Country Teams, as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

    Donson Cook-Gallardo is 800-meter runner-up at NCAA Championships, earns seventh All-America award

    When Donson Cook-Gallardo crossed the finish line for the 800-meter run at the NCAA Championships, it brought the curtain down on one of the most impressive athletic careers in Carleton College history. The senior finished second in the race, earning his seventh career All-America award and the sixth in track and field.
