Jonah Barry trimmed more than 25 seconds off his previous best in wining the 5000-meter run at the Saint John’s Invitational. He clocked a time of 14:58.27 and was hardly alone in establishing a new personal standard. In fact all five Carleton racers in the 5000-meter race posted new PR’s.

The Carleton men's track team had a strong showing on their home track last weekend at the Carleton Invitational, which included a star performance from runner Colby Seyferth (Banks, Ore.). The Knights junior turned in a pair of top-two finishes against a field of NCAA Division II and III competition, and moved to the top of the MIAC season leader board thanks to his victory in the 400-meter hurdles. For his performance, Seyferth was named the first MIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week of the 2014 season.

Colby Seyferth celebrated his birthday with a win in the 400-meter hurdles in the outdoor season opener for the Carleton College men’s track and field team. He followed up that time of 57.14 by running anchor in the final race of the day at the Carleton Invitational as he narrowly missed bringing the Knights another come-from-behind victory in the 4x400m relay. Seyferth took the baton approximately five seconds behind the leader but closed the gap as Carleton came up only 0.2 second short.

While the rest of his classmates were traveling for spring break, Carleton College junior Colby Seyferth took part in the 18th Annual California Multis hosted by University of California Berkeley. Seyferth placed fourth overall in the decathlon with 6,033 points, the third-highest point total in team history and sixth-best in Division III this season.

The Carleton College men’s indoor track and field team hoped to improve upon its standing on the final day at the MIAC championships. Though advancement in the rankings proved elusive, the day was highlighted by Jonah Barry’s runner-up result in the 3000-meter run and a trio of All-MIAC Honorable Mention performances.
