BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its annual award recipients for Men's Indoor Track and Field on Thursday, and two Knights garnered top honors. Lucas Mueller (Fy./St. Paul, Minn./Nova Classical Academy) earned Outstanding Track Athlete while Dave Ricks was voted by his peers as the Men’s Indoor Track and Field Coach-of-the-Year.

Mueller had a hand in 38 of the Knights' 123 points at the 2018 MIAC Indoor Championships. The rookie claimed top individual honors in both the 1,000-meter run (2:29.73) and 3,000-meter run (8:35.65) and finished second in the 5,000-meter run (14:58.37). He was also part of the first-place distance medley relay team, capping an outstanding debut season at Carleton.

Ricks was recognized as a Coach of the Year for the second time during the 2017-18 academic year, adding his first career Indoor Track and Field coaching honor to the Men’s Cross Country accolade he earned back in November. Ricks' team finished second at the 2018 Championships, scoring 123 points with 10 All-MIAC performances—including four individual MIAC champions, and one relay team title—along with nine more all-conference honorable mention finishes.

Maurice Hicks (Sr./Upper Marlboro, Md./Maret) was Carleton’s representatives on the All-Sportsmanship squad, while Tonya Piergies (Jr./Kenilworth, Ill./North Shore) received that honor for the women’s team.
