Tom Ballinger, men's track and field action

Tom Ballinger '09 was a three-time All-American in the hurdles.

Four Knights earned All-MIAC honors during the 2012-13 indoor and outdoor season, and 17 other members of the squad earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention. Marcus Huderle ’14 has won the individual title in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 2012 and again in 2013. He finished 12th in the event at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The men's track and field squad has been one of the most successful programs at Carleton, sporting three individual national titles and a total of 52 All-America performances of the last 40 years. The Knights produced four All-Americans over the last decade with the group responsible for several MIAC titles.

In 2003, Matt Hooley ’04 placed sixth in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and later that year Dan Bucy ’05 placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Steve Harris ’06 finished third in the 5,000-meter run at the 2006 NCAA indoor meet. Tom Ballinger '09 earned All-America honors for three straight years in the 400-meter hurdles. His best finish was a third-place showing at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
