MANKATO, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s indoor track and field team took on a stacked field at the MSU-Mankato Open, including six D-II programs, and the Knights came away with a trio of victories plus several other top-eight finishes.

The Knights capped the meet with a come-from-behind victory in the 4x400 relay. Ben Schwartz (So./Mankato, Minn./Mankato East), Zach Kulstad (Fy./Savage Minn./Prior Lake), Donson Cook-Gallardo (Sr./Moscow, Idaho/Moscow), and Joey Cook-Gallardo (So./Moscow, Idaho/Moscow) combined on a time of 3:25.77.

The Knights placed four runners inside the top-five of the 5000-meter run. Lucas Mueller (Fy./St. Paul, Minn./Nova Classical Academy) won the event with a time of 15:04.41 (20th in D-III). Matt Wilkinson (Fy./Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) was the runner up at 15:16.74 (37th in D-III), while Cameron Meikle (So./Hamilton, Mont./Hamilton) and Tris Dodge (Jr./Oakland, Calif./College Prep) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at 15:28.30 and 15:30.00. The strong showing of these four Knights puts them at 1st-4th in the MIAC this year.

Both his Mile time and his 800-meter time are the fastest in the MIAC so far this season. His younger brother, Joey Cook-Gallardo, took fourth out of 35 runners in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.20 (21st in D-III).
