NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Three Knights competed at two meets over the weekend for the Carleton College men’s track and field team. Lucas Mueller (So./St. Paul, Minn./Nova Classical Academy), Joey Cook-Gallardo (Jr./Moscow, Idaho), and Nick Brusilow (So./Grosse Pointe, Mich./Liggett) each turned in impressive results in their opening runs of the 2019 indoor season.

At the St. Thomas Opener on Friday, Cook-Gallardo and Brusilow each won their respective heats and took first and second place, respectively, in the 600-meter run. Cook-Gallardo finished in a time of 1:24.56, while Brusilow crossed the end line just behind him in 1:26.55. Those times are currently the two best marks in the MIAC.

Mueller took part in the 3000-meter run on Saturday at the Minnesota Open in a loaded field of Division I and II athletes. All the sophomore did was win the event, posting a time of 8:22.74, the fastest in all of Division III so far this season. Mueller enjoyed a six-second margin of victory.

The Knights are off until Friday, Jan. 18, when they will host the Carleton Triangular at the Recreation Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
