Huderle Wins “Last Chance” Steeplechase, Makes Strong Bid for Nationals

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Marcus Huderle (So./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) established a new personal best while winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the University of Wisconsin-La Cross NCAA Qualifer. His time of 9:06.87 ranks second-best all-time at Carleton College and puts Huderle into very strong contention for a bid to the next week’s NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Huderle trimmed more than four seconds off his winning mark posted at last weekend’s MIAC Championships. At the moment, his time ranks 14th in the nation with results from a handful of other “last chance” meets still outstanding. Racers with the top 20 qualifying times receive invitations to nationals.

Huderle’s teammate Noah Laack-Veeder (Fy./Madison, Wis./LaFollette) also participated in the meet, finishing second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.61. However, he was unable to improve upon his time posted at the conference meet.

The final list of participants for the NCAA Championships is slated to be released on NCAA.org by 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 20.
