DECORAH, Iowa – With wins over Lake Forest College and Lawrence University on day two of the ACM Invitational, the Carleton College volleyball improved its ledger to 9-3 on the season. Camille Benson (So./Savage, Minn./Burnsville) earned All-Tournament team honors for the third-consecutive weekend, as she recorded a team-best 83 digs to go along with five service aces over the course of the weekend.
Carleton pulled out a tight first set against Lake Forest by a 25-22 margin then dominated in the next game, prevailing by a 25-8 margin. The third set was once again close, this time the Foresters came out on top, 25-23, before the Knights closed match with a 25-20 decision in the fourth set.
Rachel Johnson (Sr./Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) hit .500 for the match and equaled Karen Halls (Jr./Edina, Minn./Edina) for the team lead with 10 kills. The duo figured in four blocks apiece.
Alicia Flatt (Jr./Walnut Creek, Calif./Carondelet) and Caroline Duke (Fy./Evanston, Ill./Evanston) split time at setter once again. Flatt recorded 18 assists and 12 digs, while Duke collected eight kills and three blocks to go along with her 17 assists. Benson continued her strong play with 28 more digs.
The Knights concluded another 3-1 weekend with a sweep of Lawrence by scores of 25-22, 25-11, and 25-18. Carleton hit .222 in the match and improved to 9-0 this season when posting a hitting percentage of at least .200.
This time, Duke and Sami Kemper (Sr./Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) paced the squad in kills with seven each, while Johnson figured in five blocks. Flatt and Duke tallied 15 and 14 assists, respectively, and Benson increased her MIAC-best dig total to 290.
The Knights will open the MIAC schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Gustavus Adolphus. Action from the Lund Center begins at 7 p.m.
