Neither the Knights (7-1, 1-0 MIAC) nor the Scots (4-6, 0-1 MIAC) could create any separation in the early going, as Carleton held a slight 14-12 advantage before everything started clicking. The Knights closed the first set on an 11-2 run.

Carleton capitalized on its momentum in the next set and jumped out to a 12-4 lead before ultimately closing out the set by a tally of 25-14 to grasp a 2-0 lead in the match.

Macalester put up more resistance in the third set, however, and led throughout that game. The Knights closed to within 21-20, but the Scots did just enough to hold off their opponents and win the game, 25-20..

Again, Macalester jumped out to a quick lead in the fourth set and extended the margin to 17-10. A kill by Abby Loe (So./Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley) sparked the biggest run of the evening at a crucial time. Firing on all cylinders, Carleton won 15 of the next 17 points, taking the lead for the first time in the frame at 20-19 before wrapping up the set and the match by a score of 25-19.
