SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Building off of the momentum gained from a win in their final match Friday evening, the Carleton College volleyball team added another victory on Saturday, as the Knights closed out the Macalester Invitational with a three-set sweep of Beloit College, 25-19, 25-13, 25-17. Saturday’s win, coupled with a triumph against Minnesota-Morris on Friday, allowed the team to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record during the two-day event. Camille Benson (Jr./Savage, Minn./Burnsville) was named to the five-person All-Tournament team following the conclusion of the event. The event marks the second consecutive year that Benson, who also earned All-Tournament honors last weekend at the St. Olaf Invite, was named to the All-Tournament team at the Macalester Invite.

Buoyed by a strong service game, and strong play at the net, the Knights led wire-to-wire en route to a 25-19 win in the first set. Carleton carried the momentum into the second set, as they cruised to a 25-13 win, before closing the match and the weekend out with a 25-17 win in the third set.

Lucy Stevens (Fy./Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) paced the Carleton offensive attack as she claimed eight kills and two blocks, while hitting .263 in the match. Rachel Womack (Sr./St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) and Claire Willeck (Sr./Eden Prairie, Minn.) added five kills each, while Lexi Papke (So./Strum, Wis./Regis) added four kills and two block. Setter Alicia Flatt (Sr./Walnut Creek, Calif./Carondelet) added a match-best 17 assists, while Liz Groesbeck (Sr./Henderson, Nev./Green Valley) added a team-high 11 digs. Camille Benson (Jr./Savage, Minn./Burnsville) tallied a match-best five aces.

The Knights are off next weekend when they travel to Grinnell, Iowa to participate in the ACM Tournament hosted by Grinnell College. The Knights open up play Friday afternoon against Lake Forest College (Ill.), before facing Luther College (Iowa) Friday evening. Carleton wraps up the tournament with two matches Saturday morning, first against Knox College (Ill.), followed by a contest against Grinnell College (Iowa).
