SAINT PAUL, Minn. – In a tough non-conference matchup on the road, the Carleton College volleyball team fell to No. 7-ranked University of Northwestern-St. Paul in three sets (25-16, 25-11, 25-17).

After the first two sets were quickly won by the Eagles (20-3), the Knights (4-9) caught fire and jumped out ahead of Northwestern in the third. Eventually, the frame reached a pivotal 11-11 tally, but it was then that the Eagles regained their early-match form. The home squad initiated a 7-1 run and didn’t look back on their way to a 25-17 set victory to close out the match.

Carleton’s team hitting percentage on the evening was .093, compared to .300 for Northwestern.

Lucy Stevens (Sr./Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) collected eight kills to lead the Knights. Elyse Wanzenried (Jr./Minnetonka, Minn.) contributed to the offensive effort with five kills of her own. Rookie Lauren Pak (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) amassed 20 assists, and Katie Tritschler (Sr./Los Altos, Calif.) added 10 digs.

The Knights return to action tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at home against Macalester College. Live video and live stats will be made available via Knights Online.
