Thanksgiving was quite perfect this year. Every year our team has a tournament around thanksgiving, and this year our tournament was in sunny SoCal. As a native southern Californian it was so great to be playing near home. We had practices and a few games in California, but my favorite part of the trip was eating Thanksgiving dinner at my house. Our home was filled and bustling with my family, teammates, and my teammate’s families. After some snacking on finger food, we went to the beach. It was a little chilly, but no fun was lost. As we frolicked on the beach our thoughts were filled with happiness of the comparatively warmer temperature. We returned home where we ate delicious food prepared by my family and by Rachael’s family who are also from SoCal. My favorite part of the night was playing games once everyone’s bellies were stuffed to their heart’s content. We broke everyone up into 4 teams and competed in games similar to the ones popularized by the TV show “Minute to Win It.” Watching our coach, Andy, jump, dance and shake around trying to get ping pong balls out of a tissue box tied to his waist was hilarious!! It was a great end to a wonderful day, which I am incredibly thankful for.
