NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Samantha Cooke (Fy./Chesterfield, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) finished with 16 points and Sarah Waldfogel (Jr./Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) added 11 more, but the injury-depleted Carleton College women’s basketball team absorbed a 72-46 loss to St. Olaf College.

Carleton (8-16, 6-11 MIAC), which opened the day with only seven available players, led 17-15 with 8:30 remaining in the second quarter. The Oles (8-16, 4-13 MIAC) outscored the Knights 32-7 over the next 12 minutes of game time to pull away.

Playing without two starters—leading scorer Cece Leone (So./Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) and point guard Katie Chavez (Fy./Westminster, Colo./Holy Family)—along with four others, the Knights found offense hard to come by, shooting only 28 percent compared to 41 percent for the Oles.

St. Olaf was led by Makenna Ash, who tallied a career-best 31 points along with 10 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. Ella Skiren added 17 points.

Carleton closes the regular season with a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, Feb. 18 at No. 13-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College. A live audio broadcast will be available on KDHL 920AM in the Northfield/Faribault area and worldwide via Knights Online.
