ST. PAUL, Minn. – A fast start for the No. 3-ranked University of St. Thomas squad was more than the Carleton College women’s basketball team could overcome in absorbing a 92-30 defeat.

St. Thomas (7-0, 3-0 MIAC) started the game with a 10-0 lead with less than two minutes gone from the game. Thanks to points from five different Knights players, Carleton (3-6, 0-3 MIAC) was able to cut the deficit to 22-13 by the end of the first period.

The Knights were unable to close the gap as the Tommies showed why they are one of the best shooting teams in all divisions of college basketball as they connected on 52 percent of their shots overall, 41 percent from beyond the arc, and 94 percent at the charity stripe.

Annabella Jensen paced the Knights with seven points of the bench. Meanwhile, Asha Boziecevich had a career-high five points on the day.

All-American Hannah Spaulding led three Tommies in double figures, scoring a game-high 19 points and adding on eight rebounds and three blocks.

The Knights will continue their three-game road stint as they travel to UW-Eau Claire for a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Links to live stats and video will be available via Knights Online.
