NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women’s basketball team wrapped up the 2018 portion of its season with a 75-39 loss to visiting Bethel University.

Samantha Cooke (Jr./Chesterfield, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) led the way for the Knights with 13 points and seven rebounds on the afternoon. Jill Yanai (Fy./Glendale, Calif./Glendale) filled up the stat sheet, racking up nine points, six boards and four assists.

Carleton (3-8, 0-4 MIAC) started out the game strong and led Bethel (6-3, 2-2 MIAC) by a 15-13 margin at the conclusion of the first quarter. The Royals used stingy defense and hot shooting in the second period to close the opening half on a 17-2 run that set the tone for the second half.

Bethel’s Taite Anderson and Makenna Pearson scored 13 points apiece. Meanwhile, center Hannah Johnson collected another double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

The Knights will now enjoy a two-week holiday break. Carleton will open the new year with a home game against St. Catherine University on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019. Live video and stats will be available via Knights Online.
