ST. PETER, Minn. – The Carleton College women’s basketball team wrapped up the 2016-17 season with a visit to No. 13-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College. The Knights grabbed the early lead and saw a 16-point effort from Samantha Cooke (Fy./Chesterfield, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy), yet the Gusties were able to pull away in the fourth quarter for a 73-44 victory.

With six players sidelined by season-ending injuries, the Knights (8-17, 6-12 MIAC) did not have enough firepower to keep pace with their sixth nationally-ranked opponent of the season.

The Knights, who had already matched their highest win total since the 2008-09 campaign, jumped out to a 5-1 lead, only to watch Gustavus (24-1, 17-1 MIAC) answer with a 27-8 flurry.

The Gusties shot 47 percent on the afternoon compared to 33 percent for Carleton and owned a 24-7 edge in points off turnovers.

Sarah Paller (Jr./Brooklyn, N.Y./Berkeley Carroll School) added a career-best seven points for the Knights. Anne Hamilton (Jr./Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka) pulled down a season- and game-high 12 rebounds to go along with three assists.

Hannah Howard led the hosts with 15 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
