NORTHFIELD, Minn. – For the second time in three weeks, Meg Mathison (So./Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) has been tabbed as the MIAC women’s cross country athlete-of-the-week.

Mathison secured her first collegiate cross country victory, edging teammate Emily Kaegi (Sr./Williamstown, Mass./Mount Greylock) to win the Running of the Cows meet by a half-second. Mathison crossed the line in 22.08.4 and helped the Knights—who entered the race ranked No. 10 in the nation—claim the team title.

The field for the meet comprised 219 runners from 14 teams, including seven squads that were either nationally- or regionally-ranked.

Carleton will take a break from competition before partaking in split-squad action on Saturday, Oct. 14. The Knights will send their top racers to compete in the Lewis & Clark Invitational in Estacada, Ore., while the remainder of the roster races at the St. Boni Invitational hosted by Crown College.
