    Ayumi Sakamoto selected as MIAC Athlete of the Week

    Carleton College women’s golfer Ayumi Sakamoto finished second overall at the 75-player D3 Classic last weekend. She wrapped up play with a two-over-par total of 146, helping the Knights win their 14th straight regular-season tournament. For her performance, Sakamoto was selected as the MIAC Women’s Golf Athlete-of-the-Week.

    All six Knights entered in the tournament placed among the top-20 finishers as No. 9-ranked Carleton College women’s golf captured the team title at the D3 Classic held at The Jewel Golf Club.

    Knights shatter 36-hole record, dominate at CSB Invite

    The Carleton College women’s golf team opened the 2018-19 campaign by running away with the title at the 13-squad CSB Invitational. The Knights fired consecutive sub-300 rounds and broke the program 36-hole scoring record by eight strokes. Ziyi Wang (+1, 73-72=145) captured medalist honors by three shots.

    Knights earn 59 Academic All-Conference awards

    The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Winter/Spring 2018 Academic All-Conference honorees, with Carleton College student-athletes earning distinction 59 times. That figure is a 48 percent increase over the previous year. With 94 total Academic All-Conference awards during the 2017-18 academic year, Carleton student-athletes posted their second-highest overall figure since the program adopted new academic and athletic standards prior to the 2005-06 season.
