Well I can’t believe that it is already spring season here. My freshman year at Carleton has flown by, and it seems like just yesterday the team and I were playing our first tournament in Wisconsin. The snow seems to have magically melted while we were on our trip and the course is finally ready for us to get back out there. I think we are all excited to practice on games on some real grass.
Our trip to Jekyll Island, Ga., gave us a welcome opportunity to enjoy some real golf. After practicing on the indoor mats it felt great to hit the range and play the course. We had three days to practice before the tournament, which was more than enough to get comfortable again. We were lucky enough to play in an incredible tournament right on Jekyll Island against 23 other teams. I think we were all pleased with our 10thplace finish and best team score yet at that tournament. After the tournament we still had a few fun days to relax down in the warm Florida sun. The beach day was a fun treat for us coming from Minnesota, but I think everyone would agree that the chance to play TPC Sawgrass was the highlight. I think the fabulous course brought out everyone’s A-game and it was a great way to end the trip.
Today we had our first practice at Northfield so I guess the season has officially begun! I must say though that the team is seriously missing one of our players, Laura Knutson, who is studying abroad this semester. With only 6 girls, it’s just not the same without her!
