ST. PAUL, Minn. – Three members of the Carleton College women’s soccer team received recognition as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) handed out its all-conference awards. Junior defender Layne Teska (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) was named to the All-MIAC first team, while senior midfielder Marlena Hartman-Filson (Evergreen, Colo./Colorado Academy) and rookie goalkeeper Mikayla Coulombe (Crystal, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret’s) were tabbed All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Teska followed up a stellar sophomore season, in which she earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention and a spot on the All-North Region team, with a solid junior campaign. A constant presence on the field, Teska started in every match for the Knights, and anchored one of the top defenses in the conference. The Knights yielded only 14 goals on the season, the fewest among all MIAC teams. Teska showed she could impact the offense as well, ranking second among conference defenders with three assists.

In her debut season, Coulombe clocked every minute in goal for the Knights and posted the top goals against average (0.83) among keepers with more than 10 appearances. Her nine shutouts were most in the MIAC’s regular-season.

Hartman-Filson, a member of the 2010 All-MIAC First Team, capped her Carleton career with yet another solid campaign. She was one of only three forwards to receive All-Conference Honorable Mention as she tied for second on the Knights with four goals scored, and her nine points on the season placed her in the top three on the Knights’ roster.

Megan Morrison (Sr./Acton, Mass./Middlesex) was selected by her coaches and teammates to the seventh-annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team. This group is comprised of individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
