NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced that Carleton College women’s swimming and diving team earned Scholar All-America Team Honors for the fall 2011 term. The Knights posted a 3.42 grade-point average, which ranks 26th in NCAA Division III and tied for 49th among all collegiate women’s swim programs (NCAA Div. I, II, III and NAIA).

In order for a program to achieve Scholar All-America status, squads must have had a combined team grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0-scale. A total of 131 D-III women’s teams earned this honor. With the Carleton men also securing the award, the Knights are one of only 67 schools across the nation to be tabbed scholar All-America for both genders.

The CSCAA produces the all-academic list twice each year, once for the fall and again for the semester during which the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships are held.

All 11 women’s programs from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference received this distinction (see chart below).
