ST. PETER, Minn. -- Ada Meyer (So./Seattle, Wash./Ingraham) won twice and Caroline Mather (Jr./Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) added another victory as the Carleton College women’s swimming and diving team returned to action with a dual meet at Gustavus Adolphus College.

This was the Knights’ first competition in more than a month, and Gustavus showcased its depth in notching a 209-90 victory.

Mather was the first Knight to win an event, touching the wall in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.95.

Meyer prevailed in the 100-yard breaststroke with her winning time of 1:09.58. She later combined with Morgan Mayer (So./Garret Park, Md./Georgetown Day) for a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard breaststroke after reaching the wall in 2:31.13 and 2:31.57, respectively.

Anna Gergely (Jr./Denver, Colo./Jewish Day School) was selected as the squad’s “Can of Corn” award winner. She was the runner up in the 200-yard butterfly (season-best 2:24.07), swam on the Knights’ second-place 200-yard medley relay (1:54.53), and took fifth in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.33) and 200-yard IM (2:24.22).

After going nearly five weeks without participating in a meet, the Knights will be right back in the water on Saturday, Jan. 13 for the Luther College Sprint Invite. Racing begins at 12 p.m. and a link to live video will be available via Knights Online.
