Kapani Kirkland wraps up season at NCAA Region Diving Championships

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- Kapani Kirkland (Fy./Mendota Heights, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) competed this weekend at the NCAA Central Region Diving Championships. She finished 26th on the 1-meter board and was 20th on the 3-meter board.

A total of 28 women’s divers took part in the region meet. All of them competed on the 1-meter board on Friday, and 27 displayed their talents on the 3-meter board on Saturday afternoon.

“It was a great learning experience. It was fun to get to know divers from other conferences as well,” said Kapani. “There are things that went well, and I know what I am going to be working on to improve for next season.

“Altogether, I am grateful for this experience, and I look forward to next season with my teammates and coaches.”

Kirkland totaled a score of 330.00 on the lower board and finished with a scored of 348.55 on the higher board. Agnes Lo of the University of Chicago won both competitions, scoring 444.20 on the 1-meter board and 477.25 on the 3-meter board.
