HILTON HEAD, S.C. – For the third straight day the Carleton College faced a ranked opponent. This time, the Knights faced off against the nationally-ranked Division II program from Erskine College and lost by a 7-2 margin.
This is the fourth time this season that Carleton played against a NCAA Division I or II opponent. The Knights are now 2-2 in those contests.
Today, first-years Mikayla Becich (Bradfordwoods, Pa./North Allegheny) and Grace Davis (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) posted an 8-6 triumph at second doubles, while juniors Katherine Greenberg (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) and Molly Hemes (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) teamed up for an 8-0 win at third doubles.
All six singles matches went to the Flying Fleet (10-5) in straight sets. Atop the lineup, Bridget Doyle (Sr./Mendota Heights, Minn./Visitation) battled Corin Hallman, ranked No. 12 in the southeast region, before succumbing 6-3 and 6-4.
The Knights will enjoy an off day before returning to the court for a match versus Colby College on Friday, March 29.
