CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Carleton College women’s tennis team, ranked No. 37 in the nation, closed its spring break trip to California in style with a convincing 8-1 victory over Colby College, a regionally-ranked program. Four Knights won in both singles and doubles with Iman Qureshi (Fy./Lahore, Pakistan/Lahore Grammar School) accomplishing the feat while playing atop the lineup for singles and doubles.

Qureshi paired with Madeline Prins (Fy./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) for an 8-5 doubles triumph, the duos first since moving into the top spot in the lineup earlier this week. Caitlin Shea (Sr./Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township West) and Danielle Vasiliev (Jr./Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) secured their seventh doubles victory of the year, this one coming by an 8-2 margin. Caitlin Eichten (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and Kristina Conrad (So./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) prevailed by the identical score at third doubles

Carleton (7-4) led after doubles for the first time on the road trip and carried the momentum over to singles.

Conrad, Eichten, and Prins were the first three Knights to complete their matches, with each getting off the court with impressive straight-sets result at fourth through sixth singles, respectively. Prins posted a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Conrad was nearly equally effective as she turned in a 6-1, 6-0 rout. Eichten remains undefeated the season following her 6-2, 6-2 win.

Qureshi improved to 8-1 versus Division III opponents after her 6-0, 7-6 result atop the lineup. Meanwhile Zoe Park (Fy./Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) won a tightly contested opening set and claimed her victory at second singles by a 7-5, 6-3 tally.

Carleton will return to Minnesota for the start of spring term classes, then resumes MIAC play by traveling to Concordia College on Saturday, April 1.
