LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The Carleton College women’s tennis team absorbed its first setback of the season, falling 9-0 to Augustana (S.D.) University, a regionally-ranked NCAA Division II scholarship program.

The Knights (2-1) played extremely tough at second and third doubles, with Elizabeth Yim (Fy./Orange, Calif./Villa Park) and Madeline Prins (So./Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) forcing the latter to a tiebreaker before falling 9-8.

Kristina Conrad (Jr./Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) put up the strongest challenge in singles, forcing her match to a tiebreaker that eventually went into the Vikings’ column 6-4, 5-7, 10-4.

Zoe Park (So./Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) had the unenviable task of facing Kornel Staniszewska, the No. 8-ranked player in D-II.

Danielle Vasiliev (Sr./Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson), Alana Danieu (Sr./East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), Yim, and Prins won at least five games each during singles play.

Carleton will host Concordia College for a 10 a.m. match on Sunday, Feb. 18 at West Hills Tennis & Fitness in Owatonna, Minn.
