ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Carleton College women's indoor track and field team continued its record-breaking season, and at the University of Minnesota Parent's Day Open, Knights' junior runner Colette Celichowski (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) took her turn with a pair of school records. Carleton senior Kao Sutton (Hilo, Hawaii/Kamehemeha Schools) didn't just break the Knights' school record in the shot put Saturday at the University of Minnesota Parent's Day Open ... she broke it three times. On Tuesday, the duo swept the conference’s weekly honors as they were tabbed the MIAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes-of-the-Week.

In a field of top-level Division I, II and III competition, Celichowski starred in her two performances: she was the top D-III finisher in the mile with a new school-record time, and she helped the Carleton 4x400-meter relay team also set a new program best. Celichowski was fourth overall in the mile behind three D-I runners, and her time of 4:58.08 is the best in Knights' history. That mark currently ranks No. 1 in the MIAC and No. 6 nationally. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay, which set another school record with a sixth-place time of 4:00.40. Carleton finished behind only five D-II teams in that race, and its time is tops in the conference and 27th in D-III this season. For her record-setting performance, Celichowski was named the MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

Sutton was the top Division III finisher and sixth overall in the shot put, which was loaded with top Division I and II competition. She started out with a new school record on her second throw of 12.93 meters. Sutton bettered that on her next attempt (13.10) and extended her new program best even further with a throw of 13.50 meters (44-3.5 feet) in the finals. Her sixth-place finish came behind three D-I throwers and another from D-II. Sutton's new Knights' record has her ranked No. 2 in the shot put in the MIAC, and No. 14 in Division III this season. Sutton was selected as the MIAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week.

Carleton won't have far to travel for its final indoor regular-season meet, as they'll head across town to compete in the Ole Open Qualifier at St. Olaf's Tostrud Center on Friday at 4 p.m. A week later, Celichowski, Sutton, and their teammates will head to Collegeville for the 2014 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be co-hosted by Saint Benedict and Saint John's on March 7-8.
