MANKATO, Minn. – The Carleton College women’s indoor track and field team took a small contingent to compete at the Minnesota State-Mankato Open on Saturday. The meet featured quality competition including seven Division II programs.

The day’s top performances for Carleton were turned in by Meg Mathison (So./Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee), Abby Sharer (Sr./Millstone Township, NJ./Princeton Day), and Erica Blackett-Thomas (Fy./Wellesley Hills, Mass./Wellesley).

Mathison, who was the runner up in the 3000-meter run on Friday, took fourth out of 41 racers in the mile run on Saturday. She was the top D-III finisher in that race with a time of 5:03.83, tops in the MIAC this season and 14th nationally.

Sharer placed sixth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:13.22. She was also 12th in the mile run at 5:21.83.

Blackett-Thomas had the Knights’ other top-eight finish as she cleared 1.53 meters in the high jump, good for seventh place.

Also posting impressive races were Sid Holder (Fy./Orange, N.J./Phillips Academy), Fiona Casey (Fy./Chicago, Ill./Northside), and Elsa Sandeno (Jr./Bellingham, Wash./Sehome).

Holder won her heat in the 200-meter dash and finished in 13th place with a time of 27.16. Casey and Sandeno placed 10th and 12th in the 800-meter run with times of 2:21.48 and 2:24.77.
