Knights run to victory at Carleton Triangular

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Two individual wins by sophomore Amanda Mosborg (Edina, Minn.) headlined a collective victory for the Carleton College women’s track and field team at the Carleton Triangular on Friday evening.

Mosborg started her day by winning the mile run in a time of 5:16.79. Helen Schuda (Jr./Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) was not far behind, taking second with a time of 5:17.03.

The former also claimed first place in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:29.14.

In the 600-meter dash, Amy Kropp (Fy./Logan, Utah) and Natalie Marsh (So./Winnetka, Ill/New Trier) went 1-2 with times of 1:44.15 and 1:46.12, respectively.

Sam Schnirring (Sr./Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Emma Greenlee (So./Aurora, Minn./Mesabi East) took first and second place in the 3000-meter run, finishing in 10:35.69 and 10:42.52.

In the field events, Tonya Piergies (Sr./Kenilworth, Ill./North Shore) won the long jump (4.78m), and Anna Grove (So./Morris, Minn./Morris Area) claimed victory in the high jump (1.57m).

Rounding out the top performances for the Knights, Elsa Sandeno (Sr./Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) and Schuda finished in second and third in the 1000-meter run with times of 3:08.18 and 3:12.78.

Carleton easily won the team competition, finishing with 113 points. Hamline University and St. Olaf College took second and third with 88 and 54 points, respectively.

The Knights will compete on Friday and Saturday next weekend (Jan. 25-26) in the Mark Schuck Multi and Open in Mankato.
