ST. PAUL, Minn. – Haley Johnson’s (Sr./Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) second-place result in the 1500-meter run was the top individual performance by the Carleton College women’s track and field team at the Macalester Invitational. Johnson crossed the line in 4:49.2, ranking behind only a Division I runner from the University of Minnesota.
Other top results came from Sarah Trautman (Sr./Lexington, Mass,/Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols) and Sally Donovan (Fy./Minneapolis, Minn./South), who placed third in the 3000- and 5000-meter runs, respectively. Trautman posted a time of 10:55.32, while Donovan finished at 19:31.08.
Ellie Wilson (So./Roseville, Minn./Roseville) won her heat and ranked fourth overall in the 400-meter dash. She recorded a season-best time of 1:00.72 and was one of four Knights to finish among the top eight racers in the event.
Kao Sutton (Jr./Hilo, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools Hawaii) notched the Knights best placement in a field event as she took fourth in the discus. Her throw of 126 feet, 8 inches marked a season best.
The Knights will compete at the Tommie Twilight on Wednesday, May 1. That meet begins at 3:00 p.m. and is the final tuneup in advance of the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 10-11.
