COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- Amelia Campbell (Fy./Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Sturgeon Bay) earned All-Conference distinction with her third-place showing at the MIAC Heptathlon. She was third after the first day and held that position throughout the final day of competition. Campbell was the only competitor in 14-person field to finish among the top four finishers in all seven events.

Defending champion Kaari Jensen of Concordia finished in first place with 4754 points followed by Dani Larson of St. Olaf (4524), and Campbell (4414).

Campbell’s overall finish was the best by a Knight since Kestrel Schwaiger ’07 won the heptathlon in 2006.

On day one of the competition, Campbell was the second finisher in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a career-best time of 15.62. She tied for third in the high jump after clearing 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch), good enough to equal her personal best. Campbell also ranked third in both the shot put (31 feet, 4.5 inches) and 200-meter dash, as she notched another PR with a time of 27.12

The second day of competition—which was originally scheduled to be held at Carleton but was moved to Saint John’s due to weather—saw Campbell hold steady in third place overall.

She missed her career best in the long jump by one centimeter but was still in the field with a leap of 5.19 meters (17 feet, 0.5 inch). She ranked third in the javelin throw with a toss of 25.95 meters and just missed her PR in the 800-meter run, placing fourth at 2:24.84.

The remaining portion of the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be contested on May 10-11 at the University of St. Thomas.
