Think Three-Sided
Think Three-Sided!
Join us on Friday, April 27th, 4:30-5:30pm in the Athenaeum, for an engaging lecture on sports and politics in our changing global society.
“Three-Sided Soccer” (or Three-Sided Football) is a variation on the game of soccer where three teams play together on a hexagonal pitch. Invented by Danish Situationist Asger Jorn in the 1960s, the game has recently gained in international reputation as a progressive critique of the divisive and binary elements in sport (us vs. them, you vs. me, good vs. bad). Our guest speaker Christopher Vogel will introduce you to this new sport and its socio-political ramifications. Christopher is an activist, writer and community organizer from Kassel, Germany, and excited to get to know the engaged community at Carleton. We are excited to welcome him to Carleton and hope you can join us as well!
Christopher will also explain how to play the sport so you can join us for our “Three-Sided Soccer Tournament” the next day, Saturday April 28. Can you imagine playing soccer, chess and poker all at once? Stay tuned for more information!
