Convocation: Ainissa Ramirez
Ainissa Ramirez is a 'science evangelist' who is passionate about getting the general public excited about science. A distinguished scientist and revolutionary innovator, she promotes the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and careers in underrepresented groups. She is the 2015 winner of the Andrew Gemant Award, an annual prize recognizing significant contributions to the cultural, artistic or humanistic dimension of physics. Author of Save Our Science: How to Inspire a New Generation of Scientists, Ramirez also co-hosts a science podcast called 'Science Underground.' The title of her presentation comes from her latest book, Newton’s Football: The Science Behind America’s Game.
