Is the program right for you?
The University of Wisconsin–Madison is a launching a Design + Innovation Master of Science program in the Summer of 2020! Created to be an interdisciplinary and collaborative program, students will understand, then apply, human-centered design thinking to a diverse array of projects and situations.
The program brings together 5 different schools/colleges within the University to offer classes across a variety of disciplines. 15 of the 18 required credits in this 30 credit M.S. program were created specifically for the program, and provide foundational knowledge in different disciplines involved in the design process. Upon graduating, a student will be able to see beyond the silo of any one discipline to survey the whole project. In addition to the core courses, students are also able to specialize their knowledge by choosing from elective courses spread across 4 specialized learning tracks in Product Design, UI/UX Design, Communication Design, and Design Strategy.
From the entrepreneur who is hungry to turn an idea into reality; to the software engineer wanting to learn how to optimize a product; to the artist who wants to expand the horizon of where they can bring their creativity to bear, this program brings together a variety of backgrounds to chanel skills into the application of design thinking.
