Johannesburg's "New South"

Noëleen Murray's work examines architecture under and after apartheid in relation to notions of architectural modernism and apartheid modernity. She considers spaces as diverse as the migrant labour compound, the suburban shopping center, housing developments and the shaping of the university and city relationships. Her lecture interrogrates the notion of the global south with in relation to Africa's metropolis, Johannesburg.
