Alfiee Breland-Noble is a seasoned researcher in mental health disparities and provides an academic framework for how we address mental health practices for youth, families, caregivers, and communities. An associate professor of psychiatry at Georgetown University, she is the director of The AAKOMA (African American Knowledge Optimized for Mindfully-Healthy Adolescents) Project. Her research includes youth, caregivers, families, and communities, as she works to reduce disparities in depression treatment utilization and outcomes, community-based participatory research (CBPR), and faith-based health promotion. She is also an expert in developing and disseminating culturally relevant, patient-focused methods for engaging underserved patients in research to improve the cultural relevance of the mental healthcare evidence base.

Known nationally as a gifted scientist, public speaker and author, Breland-Noble has been featured on national television (A&E TV, PBS NewsHour and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt) and via radio, podcasts and other media. She also consults frequently with K-12 public and independent schools, community-based organizations, colleges and universities, and nonprofit and professional. She discusses mental health for a diverse campus community in her presentation titled 'Love, Light, Science: Tools for an Intentionally Inclusive Campus.'
