Demographic Change & Demand for Higher Education in a Carleton Context

Thu, February 27, 2020 • 4:00pm - 5:15pm (1h 15m) • Library Athenaeum

Lecture by Dr. Nathan Grawe, Ada M. Harrison Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Social Sciences

In his talk Nathan will draw from his recent book, Demographics and the Demand for Higher Education.

For years, the demographic make-up of this country has been transformed by the forces of migration, immigration, and fertility difference across race and ethnicity groups.  More recently, declining fertility rates portend shrinking prospective student pools in the mid-2020s.  Nathan’s talk explores the implications of these changes for the projected demand for higher education – and what that might look like in the coming years at Carleton.
