Convocation: Lissa Jones-Lofgren

Lissa Jones-Lofgren is a frequent presenter on the intersection of black history and present-day thought and on black historical figures and movements. A consultant in the Twin Cities, she provides interim executive leadership for nonprofit organizations experiencing change and coaches leaders on getting closer to equity in their organizations. For the last 12 years, she has also served as creator, executive producer, and host, of Urban Agenda on KMOJ-FM, Minnesota's oldest black owned and operated radio station, a program whose goal is to openly discuss and debate issues and policies confronting the safety and health of the urban black community. In addition, she is the host of Black Market Reads, a podcast of the Givens Foundation for African American Literature featuring conversations with today’s most exciting black literary voices, and has recently been a part of collaborative broadcasts with Minnesota Public Radio.

Previously, Jones-Lofgren served as director of the Minnesota African American Museum and Cultural Center, and director of diversity, equity and inclusion for the Minnesota Council on Foundations. The title of her presentation is 'For the Love of Black Culture: Celebrating the Contributions of Black Minnesotans.'
